1/ New Students: Our first year group have settled in very well at this stage and we wish them every success in their studies here at St Fanahans. A number of students have also joined us in various other year groups and we welcome them to our school too.

2/ General Items: All students have now received their books, locker keys and journals. If for whatever reason you have not sent in the money for these please do so as soon as you can.
Books ~ If there are any books belonging to the school at home since last year please send them in with your son/daughter  this week.
Journals ~ Please fill in your contact details at the front of the journal incase we need to contact you and we urge all parents to check the journals regularly

3/ School Uniforms: Our new uniform has been introduced and we thank all parents for their co-operation with this. We realize that it was an added expense this year but im sure you will all agree that the students look very well in it.

4/ School Tour: It is time to plan ahead already and there is great excitement here in the planning of the tour for 2012. Barcelona, Salou and Port Adventura is the destination for Easter 2012. Students are encouraged to start saving now and a saving initiative has been  launched with Mitchelstown Credit Union. All students have been issued with a savings card and €2 stamps can be purchased at the C.U. Deposits of €150 are to be paid to Mr O Sullivan by Fri Sept 16 th .

5/ Parents Council: Our Parents Council do Trojan work for the school every year and they are very active in all aspects of school life. The group meet once or twice every term in the school library. Meetings are very informal and parents like to gather to chat over a cup  of tea. We would be delighted if you would come along and our 1 st meeting is on Tue Sept 20 th at 8p.m.

6/ Student Council: Mr N O Sullivan is preparing the election papers at the moment to elect a new council. News of elected members will be in the next newsletter. The student council have a very important role and are the voice for all students in the school.

7/ Mitchelstown Library: This fantastic facility has recently opened up at Suttons Corner. It is bright and spacious and you should all pop in to have a look. We encourage you all to join the new library. During the year class groups will visit the new library with their teachers.  At the moment there is an exhibition of historic photos of Mitchelstown in the library.

8/ P.L.C. Courses: Business, Advanced Childcare, Horticulture, Healthcare, Sports & Recreation and Furniture Design are the courses being offered this year. Limited places are still available. Contact Grainne Barry on 025-24314

9/ Inter Schools Hunter Trials:  Eimer Mc Grath (P.L.) & Aine Slattery (3 rd) are setting up this new group at the moment. They girls hope to have a team out in Keadra in Cahir on Oct 8 th  and Boulta in Ballynoe on Oct 23 rd. Anyone who is interested can speak to the girls or sign up at the Sports Noticeboard.

10/ Home School Community Liaison: Elma Twomey is our Home School Community Liaison Officer and she can be contacted on 086-0412952. Elma would like to remind all parents to contact the secretary if you have changed your number or address during the summer. This is very important in case  we need to contact you in an emergency.

11/ Website: Our school website is updated regularly. All copies of the newsletters are on it.

12/Junior Certificate Results: Well done to all our students who received their J.C. results this morning.

13/ National Ploughing Championships: All Senior Cycle students will travel to the ploughing match on Tue next Sept 20 th
. The bus will leave the school at 8a.m. and return at approx 8p.m. The cost of the trip will be  €23. This will cover bus and entry ticket.
